Well, we are now in the new house. Mostly settled in. There are still a few stray boxes here and there, but for the most part, everything is in its place. The kids are enjoying the fact that they have their own spaces now. No more sharing a bedroom. All of the toys are out of storage now. That just means that there are toys EVERYWHERE.

Megan has adjusted a lot better this time to her move to a new school. She's doing well at Washington Elementary. Even though the cirriculum was flipped compared to what she was learning in Saint Peter. She picked things up quickly and got caught up. She's made lots of new friends.

Matthew has also adjusted well. He loves his class at Loyola. He's excited to go every day. He spends every weekday morning at pre-school. Most days he's asking me to leave early.

Getting settled in the new house and getting the kids acclimated to their new schools has kept us pretty busy this fall. Tracy now has a commute (not very long) to Saint Peter every morning and afternoon for work. My commute got slightly longer as well... Its no longer 3-5 ft, its about 30ft. But its nice not having my office in the living room anymore. An office with a door that can be shut is definitely a plus.

I've added some pictures of a few things over the last few weeks. The kids at their Christmas concerts, playing in the snow, a visit to Santa, etc.

I know, I know... been forever since I've posted any pictures, or any news. Well, its been a rough ride.

Long story short... We're still in a very small two bedroom rental in Saint Peter, MN. Our house in Rochester still has not sold. We're losing a boatload of money on it. Blah... Megan survived kindergarten, starts first grade in less than a month. Matt is starting pre-school in about a month. He's super excited. Tracy faced a layoff (after only being with the State for 6 months) at the beginning of July... Luckily she was considered critical staff, and kept on through the state shutdown. I've been working from home for the last 8 months. Worked out well, until I became daycare during the summer... Things should return to normal in a few weeks when school starts again.

So... As you can see, there are plenty of excuses for me to be lax on posting pics. But the biggest, was that we hadn't been taking a whole lot of pictures lately. We'll try to remedy that. :) Pics are posted on the Pictures and Adventures pages... Enjoy!

What can I say... Its been forever since I've updated anything. In my defense there's been a WHOLE lot going on in the last 3 months.

First of all, Tracy got a new job!! She now works for the State of Minnesota in their Sex Offender treatment program (MSOP). She works out of the State Hospital in Saint Peter, MN. Two and a half years in the making, Tracy finally found a job in her field of study, and she couldn't be more thrilled. Its a lot of work, and different than what she's been doing for the last 10 years, but she's very happy to be doing it.

Second of all, and related to the first item, we've Moved!! We've moved about 2 hours west of Rochester to a somewhat smaller town, Saint Peter, MN. Which is about 10 miles north of Mankato, MN. Its been an adjustment, and while we're waiting for our house in Rochester to sell, we are renting a townhome. We're cramped into a much smaller space than we had in Rochester. The kids have adjusted well so far. They are sharing a bedroom, which is actually working. The garage is packed full of boxes, and stuff that we just dont' have room for, and then there's the storage unit in Rochester... Not sure how we got all this stuff, but before things are allowed into a new house, we will be determining whether we actually need it.

Thirdly... also associated with points 1 and 2, Megan is in a new school. She's now in Mrs. Hartfiel's class at South Elementary Learning Center here in Saint Peter. She is finally adjusting well. The first 2 weeks were difficult, but I hope we're past that. *knock on wood* Because of the difference in the school day here, Megan has been going to school after care at the school for a few hours until Tracy finishes work. She is really liking that because of all the toys, games, projects, etc that they have there for the kids every day.

Matt hasn't really seen much of a change. Well, besides missing Jen in the worst way. He stayed home with me here at home for a few weeks, but it got to the point that I wasn't getting much work done. And the television isn't much of a nanny... Effective yes, but not good. We've met some new people here in Saint Peter (thanks Amy!!). Mike and Jill Graham who will be watching Matthew a few days a week for us. To get Matt out of the house, and to give me some quality work time to get stuff done. Matt has been loving it!

And that brings up the last change... I'm no longer working on site in Rochester. I now work primarily from home. I tele-commute each day. Currently my "office" is in our living room, and I don't like that a whole lot, but it could be worse. I at least have a table, my 2 monitors, and 3 PCs hooked up to do what I need. I will be in Rochester 2 days a month for our department meetings and other things. Just enough to remind my manager and co-workers that I'm not dead, but very much alive. The working from home thing has been working remarkably well. I think so anyway. Only been one snafu, we the entire town here lost power. Can't really run a PC with no power. Other than that, its like I was in the office.

I've posted pictures from the last few months as well... Now that we're somewhat settled and things aren't nearly as hectic, I hope to have more pictures and news to post here more often.
